An abortion, infected is a condition in which abortion occurs due to infection of the genital tract. In the condition, an infection develops in the lining of uterus which is commonly known as endometrium or in the placenta material or fetus. Infected abortion and infected miscarriage are other names of the condition.

Normally, it is believed that an infected abortion occurs when some parts of the placental tissue or fetal remain in the uterus after the incomplete abortion. In other words, it can be said that when products of contraception become infected, then condition is referred as infected abortion. Other probable causes of the condition are health problems like diabetes, hypertension, hypothyroidism, etc.

The less a woman is infected from health problems, less are chances to become victim of the condition.
