Overview

Cystinuria is the medical term representing the genetic disorder of the transportation of the amino acid. This amino acid is called cystine and is a building block of protein. Formation of cystine stones and cystinuria- excessive release of cystine protein in the urine is commonly found in this disease. This disease is quiet common in people across the world. The cystine stone is found in the ureter, kidney and bladder. This disease comes under the category of the autosomal recessive disorder.

Conservative treatment Modern Medicine

The treatment is basically done to remove the stones and other symptoms of the disease. Severely infected patient may also be sent to the hospital. Pain killers may be administered to cut down the associated pain of the patient. Laser treatment may be adapted to remove the stones. Surgery may also be done where other methods of treatment fails. Ureteroscopy, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy and percutaneous nephrostolithotomy may be done to remove the stones
